What is a Water Purifier?
The Whirlpool® Water Purifier is a water filtration system certified by an independent third party organization to exceed the EPA standard for the removal of bacteria, viruses and cysts. Other water filtration products are not certified for this level of filtration.

Does this system remove fluoride from my water supply?
The Whirlpool® Water Purifier does not remove fluoride from your water supply. Please see the performance data sheet under the manuals and literature tab for specific contaminant removal.
How does this system differ from a Whirlpool® Reverse Osmosis System?
The Whirlpool® Water Purifier and the Whirlpool® Reverse Osmosis System are designed to take different elements out of your water supply. The purifier removes bacteria, viruses, cysts, lead, sediment, chemicals, chlorine, taste and odor. The purifier also does not produce any wastewater during the purification process, making it extremely efficient.
The Reverse Osmosis System takes out many different contaminants, including total dissolved solids, chlorine, taste, odor, lead and cysts. Please see a performance data sheet for both units, located under the manuals and literature section of each page for more details.
What are examples of bacteria, viruses or cysts that could be in my water supply?
Common bacteria, viruses and cysts are E-Coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis A, Cryptosporidium and Giardia. *These microbes may or may not be found in your water supply.
Will this system work if there is a boil alert in my area?
Yes, the Whirlpool® Water Purifier will protect you and your family during a boil alert in your community. After the boil alert is over the filters should be changed.
How long do the filters last?
The filters are intended to be changed every six months. Filter life varies depending on local water conditions and the volume of water used.
Are these filters difficult to change?
No, The filters are very easy to change with UltraEase™ filtration technology. Just twist to remove and twist to install a new filter. No need to turn off the water supply.
Where can the system be installed?
The Whirlpool® Water Purifier is generally installed under the kitchen sink. It can also be installed remotely in the basement or in an adjacent room or closet. Other locations may include the bathroom or areas you will be using water for drinking or cooking.
Can I hook up this system to my refrigerator?
Yes, the Whirlpool® Water Purifier can be routed to the refrigerator by adding a tee in the line that goes to the Water Purifier faucet. Optional tubing and fittings can be purchased from Lowe’s retail stores.
