The media bed and the screen located in the top of the system work together to remove sediment from your water supply. The system has been tested to filter sediment and other particles to 40 microns. By comparison, human hair is about 75 microns in diameter.
If you are on a municipal water system, the unit should be installed between your incoming water supply and the water heater (and before the water softener if you have one).
If you are on a private well it is recommended to install the Central Water Filtration System after a water softener but before the water heater.
